Welcome to Ms Murray's Junior and Senior Infant Classroom
Irish Peatlands Workshop - Wednesday 15th May
Ballycumber Tidy Towns kindly sponsored Irish Peatlands workshops for our whole school recently.
We were very lucky to avail of these workshops and Nuala our Host told us lots of fun facts about bogs in Ireland, including the raised bogs in Offaly. She also brought in some minibeasts that make up the Biodiversity on our bogs. Thank you Nuala for a every enjoyable informative talk, we definitely learned lots and enjoyed observing and identifying different types of minibeasts!

Junior and Senior Infants Hurling
Junior and Senior infants have a new trainer for PE, and last week they got to practice their Hurling skills with trainer Seán. They got to try out the new carbon fibre hurls which we are very grateful to have received here in Boher! We are hugely appreciative to the local donor who provided these hurls for us, and also to Ballycumber GAA for donating customised helmets. This means that every child in the school will get to try out their skills.
Reading Eggs
Each child has been given a subscription to Reading Eggs. Twice a week we get the opportunity to log onto Reading Eggs and practice our reading skills through fun games and activities! Children have their usernames and passwords on the front of their homework folders. This is a fantastic resource and I encourage all children to make full use of the subscription while they have it.
Sports Hub Wednesdays
Every Wednesday we go down to the Sports Hub in Ballycumber. We really enjoy this time and are thankful to our trainers Pius and Denise! We do a variety of circuits focusing on running, skipping, hopping, and throwing. We love this time and enjoy the short bus journey too!
Lego Bricks workshop 2024
We have been very busy during our Lego workshops every Thursday in January. Here are some of our creations! The children thoroughly enjoyed these workshops and got the opportunity to make supermarkets, shops, windmills and much much more! Well done to all the children.
Junior and Seniors make smoothies!
We have been learning about healthy eating lately and this week we made some delicious smoothies. Our big buddies helped us to chop fruit. They were delicious! Our ingredients included bananas, strawberries and apples.
Christmas 2023
On the last day of school before Christmas we had a Christmas jumper day. Each child also got a selection box from the Parents Association. We want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and best wishes for 2024!

Halloween 2023

Cead míle fáilte to all the new Junior infants and their parents! We have been very busy building new friendships through play, learning new songs and poems, and lots of other fun activities! Have a look at what we have been up to over the past week....

Big welcome to our new Junior Infant Class 2023 - 2024

School Tour - Let's Go!
We went on our school tour recently and had a great day out in AIT, we did lots of fun activities, including an assault course, super slide, air mountain, ponies, parachutes and lots more!

Wellbeing Week
We had our wellbeing week from the 5th-9th of May. Wellbeing week was all about looking after ourselves and looking out for others. Some activities we did were the 'mile a day' yoga, meditations, the kindness café, and a 'caught you being kind' competition. Faye, Rossa and Noah were the lucky winners!

This is the infants first time playing a hurling match in training yesterday (Wednesday 8th March). They really enjoyed it!
We have sports stars in the making.
