Active Schools Week

We really enjoyed taking part in Active Schools Week, which was brilliantly organised by Ms. Murray.

We especially had lots of fun doing some jiving, with thanks to Denise, Olive and the Offaly Sports Partnership.

World Book Day - Dioramas

We were very busy making dioramas of our favourite books to mark World Book Day.

We were very lucky to be able to show off our hard work to all the visitors that called to see them on the day then!

Senior & First Classes

Jump for June

As part of our Active Schools we are trying to get outside to do some jumping or skipping for the month of June. 

School Tour - Mollie Moos

We had a great day out on our school tour to Mollie Moos. Everyone had lots of fun seeing the animals and getting to play on the playground.

Reading with Ms. Farrell's class 

School Marathon

Our whole school worked together for our recent fundraiser to complete an entire marathon!

Altogethet we covered over 42km. It was great fun and it was super to have so many people there to cheer us on too!

Offaly Sports Partnership - Athletics with Aoife 

We were super excited to have the OSP back to do some more activities and coaching with us - our coach Aoife put us through our paces for 4 sessions and we had lots of fun!

St. Brigid's Crosses

We grabbed some experts from Ms. Farrell's class to help us make some St. Brigid's crosses. We had just learned the story about the St. Brigid's cross and used some pipe cleaners to make our own.

Bricks 4 Kidz

We've been very lucky to have the chance to improve our STEM skills in class with our Bricks 4 Kidz workshop that gets us working on lots of creative projects with lego blocks. It's so much fun and we're developing lots of skills too!

Electrifying Science!

We were learning about electricity in our science classes and this gave us the chance to explore static electricity with our balloons - it was lots of fun but we did have some bad hair days!

Reading with Ms. Farrell's Class

Ms. Farrell's class kindly offered to do some reading with us. They read some lovely stories to us and even listened to some of our reading. We really enjoyed our afternoon and were very grateful to the 5th/6th class children for their time.

Christmas Games

We played lots of different Christmas themed games in our PE classes - we really liked this one where we had to decorate some 'Christmas Trees'! 

Offaly Sports Partnership - Fast Feet

We were lucky enough to have someone from the Offaly Sports Partnership to coach us up with some brilliant athletics drills. We really enjoyed it and it will definitely come in handy later on in the year. 

Construction Work!

We had lots of fun testing out different materials in our class for constructing with. We were very creative and found lots of different ways to work with our materials.  We even had time to relax in some of our creations at the end!

2022/23

Creative Schools

We've been very busy this year with our involvement with the Creative Schools programme. Aideen has been out to visit us lots of times and we have taken part in some really cool projects.

We did some construction work using recycled materials, and we used nature to create art work too. It was a lot of fun!

Master Chef - 1st and 2nd Class edition:

We were back in the kitchen for some baking. This time we were baking some bread. We tried making banana oat bread. We worked in four groups and made a loaf each. We put all the ingredients together and then Mr. Wynne helped us put them in the oven.

We wrote about our baking for our procedure writing.

It was nice to be able to eat all our hard work. We think it turned out pretty well but you can see for yourselves:

Arts and Crafts

We had been learning about the earth in our geography and science classes so we set about making one in our class. We tried using the papiêr maché technique and had a lot of fun putting them together.

School Tour - Let's Go!

We went on our school tour recently and had a super day out. We got to take part in loads of activities and have a really fun day out with all our classmates. It was a great day and we were very tired after such an active day!

We've been very busy every day this week with different activities for our Active School Week - we've done circuits, played games, had races and even went on a whole school walk.
