Welcome to Ms Warburton's 1/2 of 4th and 5th Class

What Makes Us Happy 😊

We spent the past week or so preparing projects on what makes us happy. A fantastic job by each and every one of the children.

FUN ACADEMY, ROSCREA

2nd to 5th class travelled to Roscrea on 20th June for their school tour. They took part in a variety of activities, dodgeball, sponge polo, roller cars, co-operative games and bouncy castles. A great day was had by all!!

Kindness Cafe with Mr.Wynne's Class

Some serious chats were being had here! The children enjoyed finding out a little more about each other while sampling some fresh fruit.

HAPPY WORLD BOOK DAY 📖 ✨️

To celebrate World Book Day we brought in our favourite book and shared with the class why we liked it so much. We then designed a new cover for our novels. We finished off the day with 20minutes "Accelerated Reader" time!!

Bricks 4 Kidz

We have been very lucky this year to get a chance to participate in the Bricks 4 Kidz Workshops. These sessions give the children the chance to put their problem solving skills to the test while completing hands on projects. We have made a great array of items, from bulldozers to monkeys and even added motors!!

Our final challenge this week (Wednesday 28th February, 2024) was to make a motor powered aeroplane. Here are Niamh, Izzy, Evie and Sarah with their masterpieces!.

IT'S CHRISTMAS!!!

Christmas Market Preparations

Fourth & Fifth Classes

A children’s heritage trail of Leamonaghan

This above project was organised recently by the Heritage Office, through Dr Stephen Mandal of The Irish Heritage School.

Stephen organised a walk and talk visit of the site, familiarising the children of the buildings, folklore, history and timeline.

Children from 4th 5th and 6th classes found this trip a very meaningful experience and were extremely interested in all the stories and information Stephen had to tell.

Halloween Fun

Fancy Dress, dancing to The Skeleton Rap & a game of Witches & Zombies!!

Messy Monsters

As part of Construction in Art we worked on making "Messy Monsters" using recyclable materials. Everything from cardboard boxes, bottle caps, tin cans and old batteries were used. The kids did an amazing job.

Writing Workshop

Back in September we had a visit from "Offaly Fighting Words" where we got to try out our Creative writing skills. The class put together a story as a group, entitled "The Missing Case". They were then given the opportunity to work independently to complete the piece. The story can be seen on the website fightingwords.ie where it is listed under School Stories. The children really enjoyed the experience and had great ideas.

SPORTS DAY & JUMBLE SALE

It has been a busy week in Boher, with our Sports Day & Jumble Sale. We all had great fun on Thursday participating in races, throwing events, tug of war and much more! Friday our 5th class joined with 5th&6th for the annual Jumble Sale. It was a great day!

JUMP FOR JUNE

For the month of June we challenged ourselves to complete 200 skips each morning. We have seen huge improvements...well done all!

School Tour Time "Let's Go A.I.T"

On June 7th, we travelled to A.I.T. for our school tour with Let's Go Tours. We had a ball and got to try out lots of exciting activities. We scaled great heights, rolled around like hamsters and even sprinted like professional athletes. A great day was had by all!!

Creative Schools

For our Creative Schools Project for May we worked outdoors to create pictures from nature. Everyone created fantastic pieces using natural materials.

4th and 5th

 World Book Day.  📚

We did projects and models based on our favourite books to celebrate World Book Day.

It was super fun and we are proud of our creations.

ESB SCIENCE BLAST 2023

ESB Science Blast is the current flagship project in the RDS Science and Technology programme. It is a STEM education programme, designed and delivered by the RDS, to inspire primary school children and is one of the largest science education programmes for primary schools of its kind anywhere.

Ms Warburton's fourth and fifth class pupils participated in this year's ESB Science Blast 2023. Their investigation was "How does the way we store food affect it's shelf life?"
